Local Guide / Things To Do

Phillip Island is not only a great destination for beaches, but is also a great source of other activities and attractions. And being such a small Island, every place of interest is only ever a few minutes away!

Below are only a few of the main places of interest on Phillip Island.

The Beach - is one of Phillip Islands most, relaxing and peaceful beaches, with Cowes town only a 20 minute walk away.

Take a look at how close the Beach really is to Silverleaves Beach Cottage in this arial photograph.

Also view photos of the beach here.

Phillip Island Penguin Parade - is one of Australia's most popular attractions. See the world's smallest penguin in its natural habitat from viewing stands and boardwalks. Each night at sunset you'll be amazed by these Little Penguins returning ashore after a day’s fishing.Enjoy interactive and educational displays in the visitor's centre and the spectacular coastal scenery from the Penguin Parade. This experience is sure to be the highlight of your visit. As the sun fades in the sky, Little Penguins waddle up the beach to the safety of their homes in the sand dunes.

Phillip Island Wildlife Reserve - The state of Victoria's biggest privately owned Wildlife reserve is also on Phillip Island, where you can feed much of the local wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies and emus. They also have tree top boardwalks for the viewing of the sleepy koalas. This is a great place to take the kids, but is also a fantastic opportunity to get close to native Australian wildlife.

Cowes Golf Course - is an extremely enjoyable course which is split into 2 nines. The outward nine holes are somewhat shorter, with many fine old eucalypts and an abundance of wildlife spread over the undulating and sandy ground. The front nine can lull a player into a false sense of security with its traditional and enjoyable layout. Whats more, the course is within walking distance of the Beach Cottage.
